Two Energy Packed Smoothie Recipes
Here are two smoothies I drank before my runs this weekend and they really helped to fuel me. Today's smoothie was packed with coconut milk which has alot of fat but this also means lots of energy. I need to go food shopping this weekend so plan on more recipes this coming week.
I'm in the midst of working on a vegan eats in NYC post and I'm collaborating with another local food blogger, Beth Reed of simplythat.com, and I can't wait until we publish our joint post! Beth is so nice....and she's vegan and gluten free so she was showing me the vegan, GF scene in Brooklyn the other day. Stay tuned for our post next Friday.
Blueberry Banana Smoothie:
2 cups of coconut water
2 pints of organic blueberries
2 frozen bananas
2 tbsp of hemp seeds
Chocolate Banana Coconut Smoothie
2 frozen bananas
2 scoops of chocolate vegan protein powder or 2.5 tbsp of cacao powder
1 oz of raw superfoods blend or raw nuts (I buy Jucie Press's superfoods blend)
Combine all ingredients except the superfoods blend in your blender and blend on high. Top with nuts or superfoods. It tastes like ice cream :) This recipe is totally raw if you use cacao powder instead of the protein powder.
